Course Details
The EYO Ensembles Course is a four day non-auditioned course for Intermediate level instrumentalists Grade 4-7+, aged 10-18.
Course Dates: Monday 5 to Thursday 8 April 2027
Course Venue: St George’s School, Edinburgh (Mon-Wed) and Assembly Rooms, Edinburgh (Thursday)
Course Times: 10am-4.30pm (Mon-Wed), 11am-5.30pm (Thu)
This is a non-residential course.
Who Can Apply
We welcome applications from young musicians who:
are aged 10-18 (P5-S6)
play an orchestral instrument (strings, woodwind, brass or percussion)
are working between Grade 4 and Grade 7 standard (formal exams are not required)
This is a non-auditioned course. Participants will be grouped according to age and playing level to ensure a positive and engaging learning experience.
What to Expect
Sectional rehearsals and ensemble coaching led by experienced professional musicians. By taking part, you will:
develop ensemble and orchestral playing skills
take part in sessions focused on general musicianship
have the opportunity to play in a full symphony orchestra
The course will conclude with a sharing concert for family and friends at 4pm on Thursday 8 April held at the Assembly Rooms, Edinburgh.

In families with multiple applicants, the second and subsequent participants will pay a reduced fee of £160 per person (£50 deposit, £110 balance payment).
EYO is committed to ensuring that its courses are accessible to all, and financial assistance is available to applicants after a place is offered.
Course fee: £210
A non-refundable deposit of £50 will be required to confirm your place
The balance of £160 should be paid no later than the end of February 2027 (this can be paid in instalments).

This course fills up quickly and places are allocated on a first come first served basis, so don’t delay!
Should certain instruments become over-subscribed, a waiting list will be in operation, and you will be notified when a space becomes available.
