Stephanie Kennedy

Stephanie Kennedy is a Glasgow-based trumpeter, conductor, and educator whose career spans orchestral performance, youth music leadership, and ensemble direction. A graduate of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and the Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus, Denmark—where she studied under Prof. Kristian Steenstrup—she is recognised for her musical versatility and commitment to developing young musicians.

Stephanie maintains a vibrant freelance performing career and works regularly with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Royal Scottish National Orchestra, and the Orchestra of Scottish Opera, performing across symphonic, opera, ballet, and contemporary repertoire. Her broad experience within Scotland’s professional orchestral landscape informs a dynamic and supportive approach to her educational work.

A dedicated teacher, Stephanie is a trumpet tutor at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland Junior Department. She also tutors on orchestral and residential courses throughout the year and delivers workshops for a wide range of ensembles, nurturing musicianship, confidence, and creativity in young players at all stages.

Her conducting work has earned national recognition. Returning to her hometown in 2018, she became Musical Director of Campbeltown Brass, leading them to victory at the 2022 National Championships of Great Britain (Second Section). She also founded and directs the cooperation band Youth Band, which has rapidly grown into an ambitious and high-performing ensemble celebrated for its energy, inclusivity, and strong youth development ethos.

Stephanie is delighted to join the Edinburgh Youth Orchestra as a trumpet tutor and looks forward to contributing to the orchestra’s inspiring musical environment.
