Lis Dooner
Lis studied flute in Glasgow and London with David Nicholson and William Bennett before working in London for several years. While in London Lis was a member of The City Of London Sinfonia and Kent Opera Orchestra and also worked regularly with the Philharmonia, the London Mozart Players and Orchestra of St John’s.
In 1988 Lis moved back to Scotland to join the Scottish Chamber Orchestra where she spent 25 very happy years working with amazing players, conductors and soloists.
Lis has been on the teaching staff at St Mary’s Music School and RCS seniors and juniors. She is in demand as a tutor on orchestral courses, has a busy private teaching practice as well as running short courses for adult amateur flute players.
Lis’s connection with EYO goes back to the mid 60s when she was a member of the orchestra and her 2 daughters have also been members. She is delighted to be continuing that connection as flute tutor for the orchestra.
