Jamie Louise White

Jamie Louise White is a Scottish bassoonist with an active orchestral career across the UK and Europe. She has performed with many of the continent’s leading ensembles, appearing as guest principal with orchestras such as the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Scottish Opera, BBCSSO, The Hallé, RPCO, Staatskapelle Berlin, Münchner Symphoniker, Boulez Ensemble, and the Gothenburg Symphony, among many others. Her work spans major symphonic and operatic repertoire, and she enjoys a varied performing schedule across Germany, Sweden, and the UK.

Alongside a busy freelance career, Jamie has held positions with several respected European orchestras and is regularly invited to collaborate with leading ensembles. Her playing has taken her from international tours, festivals and large-scale symphonic projects to intimate chamber performances, where she aims to bring musical sensitivity, versatility, and a generous, collaborative spirit.

Jamie completed her postgraduate studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Frankfurt am Main with Henrik Rabien, following Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees and an Artist Fellowship at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London, where she studied with Miriam Gussek, Meyrick Alexander, and Dan Jemison.

Passionate about music education, Jamie is currently a bassoon tutor with the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain and has coached young musicians across Europe.

When she’s not playing the bassoon or making reeds, you’ll most likely find Jamie drinking coffee, knitting, or out for a (very slow!) run.

Jamie looks forward to bringing her enthusiasm, experience, and love of orchestral playing to the young musicians of the EYO.
