Wendy Elliott
Wendy was born in Glasgow and studied piano at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama with Graeme McNaught. Passionate about chamber music and piano accompaniment, she completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Accompaniment, also at the RSAMD, and enjoyed working with a range of instrumentalists and singers, including the Mansbridge String Quartet, Pat MacMahon and Lisa Milne.
Following a move to London to work at the Latymer School, she continued to combine her love of music, accompanying choirs and instrumentalists, whilst also working on a successful campaign to raise funds to build new facilities for music, drama and media at the school. After the birth of her eldest daughter, she trained as a Primary School teacher and is now Principal Teacher at George Watson’s College in Edinburgh.
Wendy’s involvement with the Edinburgh Youth Orchestra began in 2013, initially as a parent, before she went on to support the wellbeing of the orchestra members during courses. In 2018, she was delighted to take on the role of General Manager alongside her job as Principal Teacher at Watson’s, and enjoyed developing and shaping the orchestra’s activities over the next 7 years, and in particular, seeing so many young musicians grow and thrive under the expert care of the tutor team and of course, Sian Edwards.
Following Season 2026, Wendy decided to step down from the General Manager position. However, she is excited to maintain a close link with the orchestra on the Board of Directors.
