Lisa Kerr
Lisa Kerr is a well-known and highly respected figure in Scottish education with a career spanning commercial media, transport, health, technology and the arts. She studied at the City of Edinburgh Music School and went on to gain a BA(Hons) in Music at the University of York. She has held a significant non-executive portfolio including seven years as Vice Chair of Scottish Opera, a board member of the Canterbury Festival and Salisbury International Arts Festival, a member of the UK & Ireland Regulatory Board of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and several broadcast regulatory bodies.
Lisa was Principal of Gordonstoun from 2017 where she led a programme of capital investment, academic improvement and international development.
Since August 2024 she has been Principal at George Watson’s College in Edinburgh, one of the UK's largest independent schools, which educates 2,300 children aged 3-18 in a 52-acre campus in the heart of the city. Watson's is proud to be the home of the Edinburgh Youth Orchestra and it was at Watson's that Lisa played in the cello section of the Edinburgh Youth Orchestra for several years, including being Chair of the Players' Committee and the player rep on the Board.
Today her own music making is confined to piano duets with friends and being an enthusiastic member of the Edinburgh Singers.
